For over 40 years' Weight Watchers has been well known in helping people to slim. This is a straightforward diet plan, focusing on eating sensibly and doing exercise - one of the better ways to lose weight.

There are two difference plans you can choose from when you join Weight Watchers - the Core Plan and the Flex Plan.

The Flex Plan

This is probably the most well known Plan. It works on a points system with each food being worth a certain number of points. The good part is that you can eat any food you want, however you need to stay within your points range. You are given a maximum number of points for foods you can eat per day and some extra "bonus" points which you can use over the course of the week when you need them, for example, for that meal out.

Something else that's good about this plan is if you do exercise then you can get extra points. This helps in that you can eat a moderate amount of 'bad' food and STILL stay within the points range allocated to you.

While you can in theory eat anything you want when following the points system, some people do not lose much weight if they include too many unhealthy junk foods. This may be a reason for trying out the Core Plan.

The Core Plan

The Core Plan is much simpler, no points, no eating what you like. It simple focuses on ONLY eating food that is nutritious and good for you. By only eating healthy foods. The idea is that if you only eat healthily then there will be no room for high calorie junk food and snacks. Not so good if you can't live without chocolate or the occasional Chinese take-out. But it's a very simple and easy to use plan as you don't have to worry about points counting. Needs willpower though, that's why I prefer the Flex Plan.

Online Diet Plan

You can choose to do either of these plans online or through going out to meetings. If you do join this diet plan online they you get access to the Weight Watchers members website, which has details of the plan as well as recipes and other useful information. If you decide to you to the meetings, you still get access to the members-only website, but you also have the support of the face-to-face meetings.

I would give this diet four stars out of five because they provide a good and sensible eating plan that fits in with daily living, something I feel is very important. This makes it a lot easier to carry on with the healthy way of eating even when you have lost the weight you needed to. It is a diet plan you can do online too which makes it more convenient.

Weight Watchers is a very good diet plan and it's track record is impressive. It's the diet that a lot people have had success with. In my opinion this is one of the best longterm online diet plans around.
